On 21st August 2026, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Eldor Tulyakov, Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center (DSC), Uzbekistan, and exchanging views on the evolving strategic, economic, and institutional relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
Dr. Tulyakov is a distinguished policy expert and a leading voice on Uzbekistan’s development agenda. Through the Development Strategy Center, he has played an important role in advancing national development strategies, public policy reforms, governance initiatives, socio-economic transformation, and the implementation of Uzbekistan’s long-term reform priorities. The Center has emerged as a significant platform for policy research, strategic dialogue, and engagement with international think tanks, academic institutions, and development partners.
The discussion highlighted the growing importance of Pakistan–Uzbekistan relations within the broader Central Asian and Eurasian landscape. Rooted in deep historical, cultural, and civilizational ties, the partnership between the two countries continues to expand across diverse sectors, including trade, investment, regional connectivity, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges.
A particularly important area of mutual interest was the strengthening of cooperation between think tanks, research institutions, and policy communities. Both sides recognized that evidence-based research, intellectual collaboration, and sustained dialogue can make valuable contributions toward addressing emerging regional challenges and identifying new opportunities for cooperation.
The Development Strategy Center and institutions associated with Pakistan’s strategic and policy community have already established a meaningful record of engagement. Building upon this foundation, there is considerable scope for enhancing cooperation in strategic studies, governance, public policy, sustainable development, innovation, and regional economic integration.
Pakistan and Uzbekistan have significant opportunities ahead. From regional connectivity initiatives and economic cooperation to academic exchanges and institutional partnerships, both countries are well-positioned to further deepen their collaboration for mutual benefit and regional prosperity.
