Strengthening Pakistan–Uzbekistan Agricultural Cooperation

On 05 June 2026, It was a privilege for Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram to visit the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Islamabad alongside Prof. Dr. Asif Ali, Vice Chancellor of Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture, Multan, and Mr. Abid K. Cheema, Director of Habib Rafiq Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd.

During the visit, the delegation had a productive meeting with His Excellency Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector and exploring opportunities for academic collaboration, agricultural research, technology transfer, sustainable farming practices, and investment in agribusiness initiatives between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

The meeting underscored the immense potential for strengthening institutional linkages among universities, research organizations, and private-sector stakeholders in both countries. Particular emphasis was placed on knowledge sharing, capacity building, innovation in agricultural technologies, water resource management, food security, and joint ventures that can contribute to the economic development of both nations.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan share deep historical, cultural, and economic ties, and agricultural cooperation represents a promising avenue for further strengthening this strategic partnership. The exchange of expertise and best practices in modern agriculture can play a pivotal role in addressing common challenges and unlocking new opportunities for farmers, researchers, and investors alike.

The delegation appreciated the warm hospitality extended by Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering meaningful collaborations that will promote sustainable agricultural development, economic growth, and regional prosperity.
