Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram Presents Paper at the MCE–UMT Two-Day International Conference on “Re-thinking Security: Traditional and Non-Traditional Threats in a Transforming World,” held on 11–12 November 2025 at Lahore

Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director of the Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF), participated as a distinguished speaker at the MCE–UMT Two-Day International Conference on “Re-thinking Security: Traditional and Non-Traditional Threats in a Transforming World.” The conference, jointly organized by the Department of Political Science & IR (UMT) and the Maritime Centre of Excellence (PNWC), was held on 11–12 November 2025 at Lahore.
On 11 November 2025, Mr. Khalid Taimur presented his research paper during Session I, themed “Naval Doctrines & Maritime Security in a Multipolar World Order.” His paper, titled “Non-Traditional Maritime Security (NTMS) Challenges in Maritime Domains: Threats to Economic Sustainability,” highlighted emerging maritime vulnerabilities, economic risks, and the growing significance of NTMS in regional and global security frameworks. He emphasized how evolving maritime dynamics affect trade routes, economic resilience, and strategic stability.
The inaugural session of the conference featured prominent speakers, including Ambassador Shahid Malik delivering the keynote address, and the Chief Guest Vice Admiral Faisal Abbasi HI(M), Commander Karachi, who shared concluding remarks stressing the importance of integrated approaches to modern security challenges.
Mr. Khalid’s contribution added valuable insight to the discourse on maritime security, especially in the context of Pakistan’s strategic environment and the broader Indo-Pacific region.
