On 16th February 2026, His Excellency Mr. Sherzod S. Khidoyatov, Minister of Construction, Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Uzbekistan, along with a five-member delegation from the Ministry, visited the site for the Babur Park near Sector F-7, Islamabad, Pakistan. His Excellency Mr. Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, accompanied the delegation, along with the Deputy Ambassador and other senior diplomats from the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Babur Park is being established in honor of the legacy of Zaheer-ud-Din Muhammad Babur, founder of the Mughal Empire. The initiative was announced by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan His Excellency Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to Pakistan on 5 February 2026. The park aims to celebrate the shared historical and cultural heritage of Uzbekistan and Pakistan and to further strengthen bilateral ties.
The Mughal Empire was one of the most influential and prosperous empires in South Asian history, renowned for its remarkable contributions to architecture, art, culture, administration, and literature. The empire introduced significant architectural masterpieces, refined systems of governance, and a rich cultural synthesis that blended Central Asian, Persian, and South Asian traditions.
During the visit, detailed discussions were held regarding the construction plan and renovation of the park within the working group. It is a privilege that Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram is part of this working group. The construction and renovation of Babur Park will be undertaken by Habib Rafiq Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd., with the support and facilitation of the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The project is expected to transform the site into a modern yet historically inspired public space, symbolizing the shared legacy of Babur and reinforcing the cultural and diplomatic bonds between the two brotherly countries.
