On 12 February 2026, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, Executive Director, Pakistan Research Center for a Community with Shared Future (PRCCSF) participated as a speaker at the Roundtable Discussion, “Uzbekistan and Pakistan on the Path to Strategic Partnership: On the Results of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s State Visit to Islamabad”. The event was hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Islamabad.
The session commenced with opening remarks by His Excellency Mr. Alisher Tukhtaev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. In his address, Ambassador Tukhtaev highlighted the significance of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s recent State Visit to Pakistan, emphasizing the deep-rooted historical ties, cultural affinity, and expanding economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. He underscored the commitment of both nations to elevate their bilateral relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership.
An online address was delivered by His Excellency Mr. Bakhromjon Aloev, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In his remarks, he elaborated on the outcomes of the State Visit, including enhanced cooperation in trade, connectivity, regional security, energy collaboration, and people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized Uzbekistan’s vision of strengthening regional integration through constructive engagement with Pakistan and other South Asian partners.
During the session, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram spoke on the evolving geopolitical landscape of Central and South Asia and the strategic importance of Uzbekistan–Pakistan relations in promoting regional connectivity, economic integration, and sustainable development. He highlighted the potential of enhanced transport corridors, trade facilitation measures, and academic and cultural exchanges in strengthening mutual understanding. Mr. Akram also stressed the importance of policy dialogue and research collaboration in fostering long-term strategic cooperation between the two countries.

About 40 participants, including diplomats, academics, policy experts, media representatives, and members of civil society, attended the discussion. The event provided a valuable platform for dialogue and intellectual exchange, reflecting diverse viewpoints and demonstrating strong interest in further strengthening Uzbekistan–Pakistan relations.
