On 25 February 2026, It was a profound honor and privilege to witness a significant diplomatic and academic milestone. On this occasion, His Excellency Professor Dr Niaz Ahmad Akhtar (S.I) , Chairman of the Higher Education Commission HEC Pakistan, along with a high-powered diplomatic delegation from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan, jointly acknowledged the concept titled “Bridging Horizons: Celebrating Pakistan-China Deep-Rooted Friendship” as a meaningful initiative for strengthening bilateral advocacy and institutional connectivity between our two nations.
This recognition reflects the strategic depth of Pakistan – China relations and reinforces the importance of intellectual diplomacy, academic collaboration, and people-to-people engagement under the broader vision of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Under this theme, the Institute for a Community with Shared Future Communication University of China , Beijing, China has already successfully convened three high-level engagements in Pakistan:
– At the University of the Punjab, Lahore under the guidance / supervision of Prof. Dr. Mahboob Hussain, Dean, Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of the Punjab, Lahore
– At Bahria University , Islamabad under the guidance / supervision of Prof. Dr. Adam Saud, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Bahria University, Islamabad (PhD)
– At the National Language Promotion Department , Ministry of Culture & Heritage, Government of Pakistan, under the patronage of its Director General, Honorable Dr Mazhar Saleem
Each forum brought together academia, policymakers, and thought leaders to deepen understanding of Pakistan – China strategic cooperation, regional connectivity, and shared development goals.
The intellectual stewardship and conceptualization of this initiative is credited to Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram, an expert on China studies and the Belt & Road Initiative, whose efforts in academic diplomacy and regional connectivity discourse continue to strengthen Pakistan – China relations.
As Pakistan and China navigate an evolving geopolitical landscape, initiatives like Bridging Horizons serve as structured platforms to institutionalize dialogue, promote research collaboration, and reinforce the narrative of a Community with a Shared Future. The journey continues with greater clarity, stronger partnerships, and a shared commitment to sustainable regional prosperity.
