Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram participated as a speaker at the Roundtable Conference on “A Covenantal Approach to ADR: Engaging Youth in Faith-Driven Dispute Resolution”

On 26 January 2026, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram participated as a speaker at the Roundtable Conference titled “A Covenantal Approach to ADR: Engaging Youth in Faith-Driven Dispute Resolution.” The conference was jointly organized by The Qur’an Covenant Research Centre (QCRC), which hosted the exclusive in-house roundtable in collaboration with the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation Arbitration Centre (OIC-AC) and the Young OIC Arbitration Group.

The organizers were honoured to host distinguished guests, including His Excellency Dr. Umar Oseni, Secretary General of OIC-AC; Ms. Merve Nur Duymaz, MCIArb, Legal Advisor to OIC-AC; Mr. Ahmer Bilal Soofi, Former Federal Law Minister and President of QCRC; and Honourable Justice (R) Mushir Alam. Their insights and guidance enriched the discourse and highlighted the importance of principled and values-based engagement in dispute resolution.

In his address, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram emphasized the relevance of faith-driven and ethical frameworks in strengthening Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms. He highlighted the need to actively engage youth in ADR processes by equipping them with values-based training, ethical reasoning, and practical skills rooted in justice, fairness, and social responsibility. He further underscored that integrating moral principles with modern ADR practices can contribute to more sustainable, inclusive, and community-oriented dispute resolution systems.

The conference featured thought-provoking contributions from eminent panelists, including Ms. Sarah Tarar (ADR ODR International Limited), Dr. Nudrat E. Piracha (ICDARP), Mr. Muhammad Shahzar Ilahi (Musaliha International Center for Arbitration & Dispute Resolution – MICADR), Advocate Adil Aziz Qazi, Mr. Khalid Taimur Akram (PRCCSF), Mr. Muhammad Saqib Mangrio (SAARC Arbitration Council – SARCO), Barrister Zopash Khan, Mr. Abid Mehsud (Indus Mediation and Dispute Resolution Centre – IMDRC), and Barrister Talha Ali Khawaja (RSIL), alongside faculty members, legal academics, ADR practitioners, and observers from law societies and universities.

The session was conducted by Mr. Muhammad Ahmed Z. (Research Associate, QCRC) and expertly moderated by Mr. Syed Muaz Shah (Senior Fellow, QCRC). The dialogue brought together emerging practitioners, scholars, and ADR professionals to explore faith-based perspectives on dispute resolution and to discuss the pivotal role of youth in shaping ethical and values-driven ADR frameworks.
